YPP membership and Shorts earnings are separate

YouTube lists changes from February 1, 2027. The Shorts Creator Pool will require 10 million qualified Shorts views over 90 days. Missing that threshold does not remove a channel from YPP or affect its other YPP earnings.

New ads and Premium applicants will need 1,000 subscribers plus either 8,000 qualified watch hours over 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views over 90 days. Existing YPP membership is unaffected by this entry change.

Check channel notices before planning

The updated terms have a January 31, 2027 deadline. Missing it stops earnings from associated features from February 1; accepting later restores access.

The Shorts bonus requires an invitation

A separate Shorts bonus has no public application process. Participation, upload requirements, deadlines and regional conditions depend on the invitation. Bonuses are not guaranteed; ad-generated views do not count as valid engaged views.

Until an invitation and eligibility are confirmed, keep the bonus out of the production budget.
